At a meeting on April 7 with ARR Past President Tom Besson, the Deputy Superintendent of Operations for APS proposed identifying potentially four tracks (ideally one in each quadrant of the city) that could be opened after school hours for public use. In return, he is asking that those who use the facilities call if they see any suspicious activity or property damage occurring. He asked for two weeks to identify those locations and he will work up a Memorandum of Understanding stating what APS will do and what the users of the tracks are asked to do, along with providing a phone number to call to report any vandalism. This would be a pilot program which, if successful, could be expanded to other schools. If it is not successful, both sides can say that we tried to reach a compromise. This seems like a great start. Thanks for your support!
