48TH ANNUAL LA LUZ TRAIL RUN
Sunday, August 4, 2013
Last updated 8.20.2013
_La Luz Trail Run is a nine mile trail race that starts in the foothills of the Sandia Mountains in Albuquerque and finishes on top of the Sandia Crest at an elevation of 10,678’ – over 4,000’ of elevation climb.
We use a lottery system to fill the 400 allotted slots in the race – the 400 limit is mandated by the United States Forest Service (since much of the race is run through a US Forest Service area that has been designated as a Wilderness Area).
The lottery process begins the first week of May on ultrasignup.com; the lottery sign-up will be open for a week. Ultrasignup.com will compile a list of those that would like to run the race and randomly select 400 names from those in the lottery and these 400 will be entered into the race. Those not selected in the first 400 will be placed on a waiting list in the same order that their name was randomly drawn. As cancellations are received from the original list of 400 entrants, persons from the waiting list (in the order that they are listed on the waiting list) will be offered the opportunity to then get into the race.
