WOMEN IN TRAINING
A ten-week program to prepare women runners, run-walkers, and walkers for the Albuquerque Road Runners' Women's Distance Festival 5K Race.
The 2018 Women In Training (WIT) Program began on April 16, 2018 and has now been completed.
The 2018 Program Included:
The 2018 program included helpful clinics for runners and a couple of the Saturday runs started from local running stores. Several of this year's participants were veterans, having completed WIT in one or more prior years. The Monday workouts consisted of an easy run, Thursday was speed or hills, and Saturday was a long run. A few women opted to run at different times of the day on their own and come join the others when they were able. The program is flexible to allow for this option. A number of women from the WIT program won awards at this year's Women's Distance Festival 5K.
Women of all ages and abilities are invited to participate in this program, from beginners to intermediate and advanced runners, run-walkers, and walkers.
Mentors from the Albuquerque Road Runners Club lead track, road, and trail workouts designed to help new and returning participants improve form, endurance, and strength. Group sessions are held three times per week during the training program.
Whether this is your first 5K or one of many, this program is a great way to make some new friends and get to know Albuquerque's running community!
